Since its inception, OC Human Relations has recognized and honored outstanding people in our schools, communities and police departments for their exemplary contributions to human relations in Orange County. This year is no exception. On May 6, 2010 the OC Human Relations Awards 39 were held at the Grove in Anaheim. Awards were given out to Distinguished Schools, Community Policing, Community Leaders, Courage in the Media and School, Youth and Community programs. The SAPAAL was the fortunate recipient of the 2010 Community Policing Award. The Community-Policing Awards recognize departments that have tailored creative strategies to provide service and build positive relationships with their communities.
On Wednesday April 28th, 2010 the Santa Ana Police Department held its annual Employee Recognition & Awards Ceremony. At this years event SAPAAL Director Officer Tom Serafin and Assistant Director Dario Gaitan received the Chiefs Award for their involvement with the SAPAAL.
The SAPAAL received a Certificate of Recognition from Assemblyman Jose Solorio’s office. The award was for outstanding service and continuous commitment, dedication, and exemplarily service to the community. Congratulations to the SAPAAL staff for the outstanding service that they provide to the community on a daily basis!
Officer Tom Serafin recieving the 2008-2009 City of Santa Ana Exceptional Quality Service Award for the Santa Ana Police Athletic & Activity League's Fitness Program at Jackson Elementary School. The SAPAAL Fitness Program has helped the Jackson School kids raise their pass/fail rate from 23% to a 96% in just two school years.
